Tutorials
PRE-ALGEBRA
Students will continue to build on the concepts needed for success in high school level algebra and geometry. Students will explore real numbers and the subsets of the real number system. Students build upon the algebraic concepts developed on previous grade mathematics. These include simplifying algebraic expressions, solving single step equations and inequalities. Exploring factors and fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of rational numbers. Solving two steps equations, and introduction to graphing linear functions. Ratios, proportional reasoning and percent. Students will verify and apply the Pythagorean Theorem creating a foundation for further study of triangular relationships in geometry. Calculators, introduction to computers graphing software, and other technology tools will be used to assist in teaching and learning.
Pre-Algebra skills are vital and provides middle school students a solid foundation for Algebra I and Geometry courses!
ALGEBRA I
Emphasis will be given in assisting students in making the transition from arithmetic to symbolic math. Students build a strong connection between algebraic and graphic representations of functions. In this course the students will represent verbal quantitative situations algebraically and evaluate algebraic expressions. Perform operations with polynomials, factoring first- and second-degree binomials and trinomials. Simplify square roots of whole numbers and monomial algebraic expressions. Solve multistep linear equations; solve quadratic equations, multistep linear inequalities and represent the solution graphically. Determine the slope of a line, investigate and analyze linear and quadratic functions. Calculators, computer graphing software, and other technology tools will be used to assist in teaching and learning.
The successful mastery of Algebra I, is widely considered to be the door to success in the study of high school and college level mathematics!
GEOMETRY (offered in June 2022)
This course is designed for students who have successfully mastered the standards for Algebra I. The course includes an emphasis on developing reasoning skills through the exploration of geometric relationships including properties of geometric figures, trigonometric relationships, and mathematical proofs.
This course will be offered on the summer of 2022
ALGEBRA II (offered in June 2022)
A thorough treatment of advanced algebraic concepts will be provided through the study of functions, equations, inequalities, systems of equations, polynomials, rational and radical equations, matrices, complex numbers, sequences & series, probability and trigonometric functions.
